Modalities and Methods
At A New View Counseling, our Licensed Therapists are committed to providing quality care that enriches your authentic sense of self.
In order to offer you effective counseling tailored to your specific needs, our therapists are trained and experienced in a variety of evidence-based practices. Keep reading to discover which method of healing aligns with you and then visit our various locations pages to find out if that care is available at your nearest counseling office.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Focuses on the integration of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It’s adaptable for children and individuals with neurodivergence, and also considers how trauma affects thoughts and behaviors.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
A modified form of CBT that emphasizes living in the moment, coping with stress effectively, regulating emotions, and improving relationships.
Gottman Method
Through interactive training and skill building, this method is based on extensive research. It provides practical tools for couples to manage conflict, enhance communication, and improve relationship skills.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Helps individuals reprocess traumatic memories with guidance from a trained therapist, aiming to reduce the distress associated with these memories.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Promotes psychological flexibility through acceptance, mindfulness, awareness of personal values, and taking committed action to manage emotional distress.
Image Transformation Therapy (IMTT)
A gentle approach for releasing pain, fear, guilt, or shame related to trauma or other experiences without intensively reliving the feelings.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Focuses on understanding and integrating inner parts of oneself, similar to the concept presented in the movie “Inside Out,” aiming for unity among these parts to facilitate healing and personal transformation.
Play Therapy
Used with young children to help them express emotions, heal from trauma, and foster positive growth. Our therapists also collaborate with parents to implement strategies for improving child behavior and relationships at home.
Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
An evidence-based short-term treatment designed to help young children develop better coping skills. Parents are “coached” in real time by a trained therapist as they interact with their child with the goal of building the parent’s confidence in their ability to manage their child’s difficult emotions.
